On an Avalon cruise, every meal is part of the journey. Using the freshest local ingredients, our talented chefs prepare delicious recipes from the region through which you’re travelling and present them in a variety of inspiring settings.

Try an al fresco lunch at the Sky Bistro or a light dinner in the Panorama Bistro. With à la carte waiter service in an elegant dining room with panoramic windows, you’re always assured of stunning views and superb service, with complimentary wine and beer at lunch and dinner.

With eggs cooked the way you like them and daily fresh bread, breakfast is a tempting international selection of hot dishes and continental options. Tuck into hearty soups, hot dishes, salads, cold cuts and desserts at a lunch buffet. Dinner is a five-star gourmet experience complimented by regional wines selected by a professional sommelier: a full-bodied and velvety Brogsitter along the Rhine in Germany or an invigorating Le Chant du Moulin on the River Seine in France.

We also cater for a range of dietary requirements. And if you’d like to explore a port destination by yourself, there’s no need to miss out on our quality cuisine, as we’ll prepare you a delicious packed lunch.

Meal Schedule

Early-Riser Coffee, 6 a.m.
Start your day right with self-service coffee, hot water, croissants, cookies, and assorted finger foods.

Breakfast Buffet, 7 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
Enjoy a tempting selection of bread, cereals, fruits, cold cuts and cheeses, smoked salmon, pastries, yoghurts, and juices. Hot items such as eggs, sausage, and bacon vary daily.* 

*Healthy Corner options including low calorie, low fat, high fibre, low cholesterol, and high energy choices

Late-Riser Breakfast, 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Self-service coffee, hot tea, croissants, cookies and assorted finger foods.

Lunch Buffet, 12:30 p.m.
Select from intriguing appetizers, hearty soups, hot dishes, homemade bread, cold cuts and cheeses, salads, and delectable desserts.

Afternoon Tea, 4 p.m.
Take a mid-day break with coffee or tea and cake or cookies served in the lounge or on the top deck.

Dinner, 7:30 p.m.
Dine elegantly at a single-seating, sit-down meal. The chef will delight you with gourmet selections and the perfect, complimentary wines (complimentary beer or soft drinks also available). Menus typically feature an appetizer, soup, entrée, dessert, and coffee or tea.

Night Fare, 10:30 p.m.

A fresh new concept

Look out for the Avalon Fresh dishes appearing throughout our menus, created exclusively for us in partnership with rising star chefs the Wrenkh brothers.

Founders of the Wrenkh Vienna Culinary School, Leo and Karl were born into a kitchen culture – their father Christian having opened Austria’s first haute vegetarian restaurant in 1982. For Avalon, the brothers have developed an inventive menu of dishes that celebrate regional traditions and honour our relationship with what’s in season, what grows locally in each destination and how best to showcase the quality of these ingredients. So whether it’s a vanilla-marinated apple and raisin aperitif, drizzled with pistachios; or a sage-sautéed spinach gnocchi served with fried beetroot; look out for their imaginative creations alongside our own seasonal gourmet dishes.

Avalon Mixologist - Martin Hudák

Born in Prešov, Slovakia, Martin Hudák began his career behind the bar early in life, and discovered a passion for cocktails, coffee—and for combining the two! He eventually moved to London, where he honed his skills at the Savoy Hotel’s iconic American Bar as a senior bartender.

He has repeatedly shaken, stirred, and innovated his way into champion titles at Tales of the Cocktail, World’s 50 Best Bars, World Coffee in Good Spirits, and other international competitions, and has traveled to more than 50 countries, educating thousands of coffee and cocktail aficionados on the future of coffee cocktails.

Hudák is currently based in Sydney, Australia, where he is CEO/Founder of the hospitality industry’s Slovak Bar Show; a Global Coffee Ambassador for Mr. Black Spirits; founder of Spiritual Coffee, the Ginger Mania ginger beer microbrewery, and Sydney’s newly opened Maybe Sammy cocktail bar.

In 2019, Hudák partnered with Avalon Waterways, part of the Globus family of brands, and has crafted an outstanding collection of signature cocktails served exclusively throughout the Avalon fleet.
